Aye, a nice dram of 1950 Macallan for you "lad".
Andy, just look at the impending labor stoppage threatening US Football (the NFL). Here are two groups arguing over how to divide a professional sport that brings in $9 billion dollars of revenue (not profit) per year!
Only one team, The Green Bay Packers, is a "public" team and so they have to disclose their financial records. Last year, they made $9 million dollars but in previous years, they made up to $32 million dollars. Since they beat the Steelers in the Super Bowl this year, it will be interesting to see how much money they make. The last time the Packers won the Super Bowl was in 1985 but the revenue stream has grown dramatically in the last 25 years. My guess is that they easily top the $32 million dollar mark.
And yet, there may not be a full season next year; or perhaps, no season at all. $9 billion dollars in revenue and they are fighting over shares in it! Greed seems to know no bounds.
